For my Hyper-realism work I have chosen 5 organizations, which are:

  • International Labor Organization (ILO)
  1. This organization aims to promote rights at work, encourage decent employment opportunities, enhance social protection and strengthen dialogue on work-related issues.
  2. I chose this organization because there are many countries where jobs are scarce people will do anything in order to survive.  For example, places in east Africa or even in the Philippines where unemployment is very high, there are people living in streets and some doing anything they can in order to survive.
  3. (ILO) works on different programs in order to provide jobs to people that have none.  For instance, one that caught my attention was the Green Jobs Program where they want to create a green economy to create productive employment and reduce poverty, they have been working on this program for about 4 years and has been growing.  In other words taking various garbage products that may be dangerous to out environment like plastic and use them efficiently like for building fences instead of cutting trees down to do so or building bridges instead of using metals.–en/index.htm–en/index.htm

  • Assistance and Cooperation for Community Resilience and Development Inc. (ACCORD)
  1. with poverty going on in some countries their mission is to try to provide a safe and secure environment where every child, woman and man will be free from poverty and inequity, by strengthening local capacities for managing poverty reduction and human development programs to help people get back on their feet.
  2. They work with  poor communities, people’s organizations, local governments and non government organizations.
  3. There are many kids and families out there that are living in the streets after a natural disaster hits and its sad to see people after they have lost everything.

  • World Health Organization (WHO)
  1. Their objective is to direct and coordinate authority for health within the United Nations system.  Responsible for health matters, setting norms and standards, monitoring health and assessing health trends.
  2. I chose this organization because obesity worldwide has become a national problem this nearly doubled since 1980.  About 35% of adults aged 20 and over were overweight in 2008 and 11% were obese, more than 40 million children under the age of five were overweight in 2011.  Also about 65% of the worlds population live in countries where overweight and obesity kills more people than underweight.  By the way this is preventable of coarse, with overweight and obesity being the fifth leading risk for global deaths we need to stop eating and being lazy and stay fit and healthy the sustainability of this would be the healthier and fit we are the longer we live and can enjoy life.

  • Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS)
  1. Founded in 1895, their mission is to save wildlife and wild places across the globe.  They manage about 500 conservation projects in more than 60 countries protecting about 25% of the worlds biodiversity.  They address 4 biggest issues facing wild life and wild places: climate change; natural resource exploitation; the connection between wildlife health and human health; and the sustainable development of human livelihoods.
  2. WCS saves wildlife and wild places worldwide through science, conservation projects, education, and by inspiring people to value nature.
  3. Biodiversity – the variety of life on earth is declining, with up to a third of all animals threatened with extinction.  Our planet and its ecosystem supply us with all the natural resources we need to survive without that our ecosystem would be obsolete as the human population grows.  No wildlife = No more life on earth.

  • United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs (UNODA)
  1. The UNODA promotes nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation or the prevention of an increase or spread of the number of countries possessing nuclear weapons, they encourage regional disarmament efforts of nuclear, biological and chemical weapons.
  2. Weapons of mass destructions have been a problem for us since the day they were created, now around 55% of the world has nuclear warheads with the U.S. and Russia at the top with the most.
  3. Can we imagine if these warheads were to suddenly launch at the same time it would be like a cataclysmic apocalypse the end of life on earth.  I believe we should stop and or disarm these weapons in order to preserve the world as it is.
